Lail Lighting Design is an architectural and interior lighting studio working across Saudi Arabia and the UAE. We have been practising since 2020, from our studio in Dubai.
We are paid a design fee. We do not take a margin on hardware. That single fact removes the incentive to specify more fixtures than a space needs, and it is why a considered lighting scheme often costs less overall than a default ceiling grid, not more. Fewer sources, better placed, specified correctly the first time.
The design comes first. The fixtures are the last step, chosen to deliver a scheme that already exists on paper.
Ahmad came to lighting through architecture. His training in architectural design shaped how he reads a space: the structure first, then the light that reveals it.
Before founding Lail in 2020, he spent ten years as a lighting designer in Dubai with leading lighting design and supply companies. He knows how a concept is drawn, and how it survives procurement and site.
Lail is a team led by Ahmad. We stay small on purpose, so the people who design your project are the same people who answer your calls and walk your site.
We shape the idea: the mood, the hierarchy and the story light tells in each space.
We turn the idea into layouts, calculations and specifications that can be built.
We plan the scenes, dimming and control logic that make a space easy to live in.
We stay close to contractors and suppliers until the result matches the drawing.
We work alongside architects, interior designers, MEP consultants and project managers, from the first concept sketch through to the final executive detail.
That timing is not a preference, it is the whole difference. Ceilings, coves, conduit routes and joinery are decided early. A lighting plan that arrives after the gypsum is closed has already lost most of its options. Lighting decided too late is lighting that compromises the design.
Lail is a design and consultancy office. We do not sell or supply fixtures. Every recommendation is made for your space and your budget, never for a stock list.
Our fee is based on the project area and the type of architecture. It is a fixed amount for each stage, agreed before we start. You approve one stage before the next begins.
We do not hand over drawings and disappear. We review supplier offers, visit the site and fine-tune the final result after dark.

Scope runs from concept and mood board, through documentation (reflected ceiling plans, luminaire schedules, control schemes, lux calculation reports), to on-site supervision during installation and the final aiming and commissioning after dark. A scheme that is never commissioned is never really delivered.
